Lucille Faye Jones, 88, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. She was born September 13, 1920 in Anadarko, OK to Ross and Virgie Melencamp. Lucille graduated from Stecker High School and later worked for a Doctor as a nurse. In 1944 she traveled to San Francisco to be with the love of her life, Elby Jones. Elby and Lucille were married March 7, 1944 in Reno, NV. Together they had three children, Carol who died at birth, Donald and JoAnn. In the early 1950's they settled in New Mexico to work and raise their family. Lucille was active in her children's school functions, the Extension Services of Los Alamos and Farmington, as well as being active in her Sunday School class "Queen Esters". She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Elby Jones; father, Ross Melencamp; mother, Virgie Melencamp; sister, Joy Willet; and numerous aunts and uncles. Lucille is survived by her son, Donald Jones and wife Pam of Houston, TX; daughter JoAnn Oakes of the family home; four grandchildren, Asa Oakes (Sara), Tiffany Claybrook (Ben), Mindy Jones, and Rachel Cano; seven great-grandchildren, Asa, Vivianne, Delhia, Carter, Dylan, Macen, and Tanner.
