Lucy A. Lopez

Lopez, Lucy A. Age 97, was embraced by the Lord and taken to her heavenly home, Thursday, February 21, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Blanco, NM and was a resident of Ponderosa, NM. She was an exemplary elementary teacher for 42 years. After retirement she was very active at the Jemez Valley Community Center and Cannery; she was very crafty and loved to quilt, crochet, embroider and do ceramics. Lucy loved to read and watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was loved and known as Auntie by many. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Delicia Armenta; her husband, Justo Lopez; brother, Ralph Armenta; sister, Mary Romero; brother-in-law, Moises Romero; and daughter-in-law, Nellie Lopez. Lucy is survived by her step-sons, Raymond Lopez and wife Mary Ellen, Pete Lopez; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Sol Amor Hospice for their excellent care to our beloved Auntie Lucy. A Rosary will be recited Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Santo Toribio Catholic Church in Ponderosa, NM, where the Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Ponderosa Cemetery. Urn Bearers will be Loyola Martinez, Analicia Trujillo, Ronnie Herrera and Robert Archibeque.
