Lucy S. Marquez

MARQUEZ - Lucy S. Marquez, age 87, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 22, 2009, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 2, 1922 in San Ysidro, NM and was a resident of Bernalillo, where she was a devout member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Lucy loved baking bread and goodies for her family and enjoyed working in the garden and took great pride in the care she gave to her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo "Ben" Marquez. Lucy is survived by her loving children, Eddie Marquez and wife Julia of Bernalillo, Grace Arington and husband George of Hot Springs, AR, and Rosemary De Lara of Placitas, NM; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Sandoval and wife Leoneva of Albuquerque; and other numerous relatives and friends. Lucy will be greatly missed by all. Casket Bearers will be Ben Wiggins, Paul De Lara, Jason De Lara, Steve Marquez, Lawrence Chavez and Christopher Torres. Honorary Bearers will be Aaron De Lara, Cory Marquez, Jeremy Marquez, Fred Cortez and Michael Sandoval. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Presbyterian Hospice Group for the care given to Lucy; to the Bernalillo Senior Program; and to the Eucharistic Ministers for taking communion to Lucy.
