Coons, Lydia Rose
Age 93, a resident of Corrales, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was born on August 30, 1923 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Michael and Giuseppina Iacono. Upon completion of high school, Lydia went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in Library Science and Education. She was married to George Frederick Coons, M.D. who had begun service to his country during WWII. As the wife of an Air Force physician, Lydia and her family lived in numerous places throughout the U.S. and the world over the years. Upon her husband's retirement in 1980, Lydia and Dr. Coons moved to New Mexico for the second time, where they settled in Corrales. Lydia volunteers with the Corrales Library for twenty-five years and she taught Italian language classes at the Bear Canyon Senior Center in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, in 2004. Lydia is survived by her three children, George M. Coons, Carol Ann Coons and Alison B. Coons; three grandchildren, Kadina Adkins, Kevin Adkins and MIranda Ogden, two great grandchildren; Konnor and Kycera and her beloved Italian Class.
