Lynn D. Peterson passed peacefully from this life on June 27, 2017 surrounded by her friends. She was born at home in DuPage County, Illinois on April 15, 1931 to Herman and Eva Dreibrodt. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and many close, special friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband; Floyd A. (Pete) Peterson, son: Brent A. Peterson, and her parents.
Lynn will long be remembered for her major interest, support, and avocation in the promotion of pure bred dogs. She owned, bred, and exhibited numerous AKC Champion Collies and AKC Champion Sussex Spaniels. She was a long-time member of the Collie Club of America and the Sussex Spaniel Club of America, holding numerous offices and positions. Other specialty and all-breed clubs included the Sporting Fanciers of New Mexico, Sangre de Cristo Kennel Club, and the Rio Grande Kennel Club. She served actively as a licensed American Kennel Club judge for over 50 years.
Lynn was of the old school, a product of the WWII greatest generation. While she possessed a stoic and dignified nature, she equally shared great enthusiasm in all her pursuits. Those who knew her best will remember her as a fierce competitor, yet one who gave passionately of herself to various causes.
A celebration of Lynn’s legacy will be held in Rio Rancho on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm at her favorite local gathering place. For more information, please call Beth at 214-732-4341.
