Mabel Claire Fleming, of Bloomfield, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010. Mabel was born on December 3, 1920 in San Saba, Texas to Leonard and Kate Hector and was raised on their ranch and attended school in that area. She loved to remind her daughters that she, along with her brother and sister, used to ride a mule to school. She married Lindon Fleming shortly before WWII. After the War, they traveled in the pipeline business and settled in the Four Corners area in 1957. She had many hobbies throughout the years including hunting, fishing, gardening, painting, playing dominos and attending bluegrass music get-togethers. She was a member of the Garden Club and often won awards for her floral arrangements at the County Fair. She was very active in and loved her community of Bloomfield where she lived for 47 years. She had a strong faith and love of God and was a long-time member of the Church of Christ. She will be dearly missed in our hearts and in our community. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Melvin Hector, her sister Miltie Brink, her husband Lindon and her eldest daughter Sandra Ozbun. She is survived by her daughters Arleen (Bill) Nourse and Libeth (Dave) Brown; her son-in-law Butch (Sandra) Ozbun; her grandchildren Lynette (James) Vick, Regina Ozbun, Kimberly (Ferol) Murusky, Michael Ozbun, Ron Nourse, DJ (Renee) Nourse, Tania (Jonas) Armenta,Shasta Massaro, Zach Brown, Kalee Brown and Sylas Brown. Mabel was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of friends and relatives. A celebration of her life will be held at the Bloomfield Church of Christ on Thursday, July 8th at 10 am with Bob Redwine officiating. Mabel will be laid to rest at the Bloomfield Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Nourse, Michael Ozbun, Zach Brown, Kevin Vick, Sylas Brown and Wyatt Vick. Honorary Pallbearers are Butch Ozbun, Bill Nourse, Dave Brown, James Vick, Ferol Murusky, DJ Nourse, Jonas Armenta, Bud Payne and Calvin Hector. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Good Samaritan and Crane’s Roost II for their thoughtful and tender care of Mabel during her illness.
