Major Frank E. Williams Ret., 91, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Farmington. He was born November 3, 1917 in Bath, Maine. He received his schooling in Utica, New York and his military training as a photo officer, which included aerial and ground photography, at Yale University. Major Williams retired from the United States Air Force in 1963 after 20 years of service. He is a World War II veteran and served in both the Pacific and European theaters. Following his retirement he moved to Farmington with his wife, Lugardie and daughter Jeanne to take the position of General Manager of the San Juan Country Club, from which he retired in December of 1983. As a resident of Farmington, he became a supporter of and involved in the Farmington Boys and Girls Club, served on the Connie Mack World Series Committee for 25 years, and in 1965 helped in the organization of the San Juan Open Golf Tournament which is still held yearly, contributing to various charities in Farmington. He was a lifetime member of the San Juan County Club and a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge. Major Williams is survived by his wife Lugardie, of Farmington, and his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Gerardo Campos, of Sonora, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Williams; his brother, Raymond; and his sister and brother-in-law, Dora and Ray Temple. His pleasures were his family, friends, golf, reading and gardening. Cremation has taken place.
