Manuel J. Herrera Jr

Manuel J. Herrera Jr entered into rest on January 23rd, 2022. He was born March 6th, 1929, in Rio Chama, New Mexico to Manuel Herrera Sr and Maria Jaramillo. He attended Espanola High School where he graduated 1948 before serving in the army in the ready reserve for two years.

He married Mary Maestas on November 17th, 1951, in Hernandez, New Mexico, and they enjoyed a long 70-year marriage together. They had five children together, Rosemary Bair and husband Ken, Alfonso Herrera, Rudy Herrera and wife Jessica, Fred Herrera and wife Elaine, and Debbie McComas. He also had six grandchildren, Kristian Herrera and wife Lori, Candance Luna and husband Norvin, Toby Herrera, Randy Herrera and wife Tanisha, Darrel McComas (Deceased), and Adam McComas.  and ten great grandchildren.

Manuel Herrera Jr worked for the Postal Service for 30 years. In his downtime he was an outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, and sports. He was also a member of American legion, and a member of the Queen of Heaven Church.

A rosary will be held in Manuel Herrera’s memory at Queen of Heaven Church located at 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque NM, 87110 on Wednesday February 16th, 2022, at 9:30 am with a Mass to follow at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
