Manuel R. Marquez, "Manny" of Socorro, NM, entered eternal rest on August 19, 2019 at the age of 83.  He was born November 5, 1935, in Albuquerque, NM to Mary Garcia Marquez and Ernest Marquez. Manny graduated from Socorro High School and worked as a banker and office manager until his retirement. Outside of work, Manny devoted his time to his family, his parish, playing sports, and to coaching thousands of Socorro children in youth sports for over thirty years. Along with his sidekick, George Funkhouser, Manny was known as the "Voice of Warrior Sports" as they traveled throughout the state broadcasting Warrior sporting events for many, many years.  Manny is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Virginia Douglas Marquez; his daughter, Becky Myrin and her husband, Mike of Pleasanton, TX; daughter-in-law, Julie Marquez of Socorro, NM; and, daughter-in-law, Monica Padilla of Las Cruces, NM.  He is also survived by his sister, Ernestine Marquez and brother, Harry Marquez, both of Albuquerque, NM; Sister-in-law, Pat Douglas of Socorro, NM; sister-in-law, Enid Westbrook of Katy, TX;  and his loving grandchildren, Ginny Myrin, Clayton Myrin, Mikaela Myrin, Alarik Myrin, Manuel Myrin, Lauryn Marquez, Christopher Marquez, Sofia Marquez and Mary Myrin; and many other extended family and friends.  Manny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Marquez; and his sons, Rick Marquez and Chris Marquez. Rosary to be recited on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro, NM 87801. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 10:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church,  with Celebrant John Anasiudu preciding.  Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery  following service. Pallbearers will be Clayton Myrin, Alarik  Myrin, Christopher  Marquez, Scot Pinney, Graham Pinney.  Honorary pallbearers are Manuel  Myrin, George Funkhouser, Ernest Gonzales, Juan  Gonzales.
