69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2015 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Socorro, NM on February 18, 1946 to Frank Sr. and Lencha (Gonzales) Torres. He was  a lifelong resident of Socorro. Manuel was a proud veteran and retiree after 22 years of dedicated service of the United States Army National Guard. He worked as Chief Mechanic for  the Socorro County Road Department and retired after 30 years there. He was a very skilled and talented mechanic, and self taught at that, when he was 9 years old he took apart his dads car and then put it all back together, since then, there was not anything about a car, Manuel couldn't figure out, mechanics was his job but it was also his hobby and he loved it. He was avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved Mantanzas. Manuel loved to be with his friends and he was a proud member of the "Polo Club". More than anything, Manuel Loved his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Manuel will live on in our hearts and always be our #1. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, and his two grand babies, that didn't make it here to earth. Manuel is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Gloria "Jean" (Marquez) Torres; his devoted children, Sharon Torres; Manuel Anthony Torres and wife, Tracey Salinas; Leslie Ann Torres; and Loren Ortega and husband, Damian; his brothers, Frank Torres and wife, Corrine; Michael Torres; his sisters, Margaret Torres, and husband, Felix; Jackie Marquez and husband, Johnny; and Marian Torres; and many other loving family members, nieces, nephews, and many, many close friends. Grandpa Manuel will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Christopher; Anthony; and  Frank. His great grandchildren, Axel; Yadirah; Dominic; Cadence; Darryus; and Keynen, were his pride and joy. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 4-7pm at the Daniels Family Funeral Services- Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM 87801.The Holy Rosary will  be recited on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro followed by the Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 9:00 am with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will be held in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Anthony Torres, Frank Torres, Christopher Moya, Damian Ortega, Jeremy Herrera, and Felix Torres III. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Cano, Darryus Ortega, Keynen Ortega, Dominic Torres, Axel Rodarte, Arsensio Ortega, Frankie Marquez, Robert Contreras, and Mark Jordison.
