Margaret Greer "Peggy" Chaves

Chaves, Margaret (Peggy) Greer Margaret (Peggy) Greer Chaves, 48, passed away on November 2, 2012 after a 17 month battle with brain cancer. She was born January 12, 1964 in Ft. Eustis, VA to W. Gerald and Suzanne Owens. Peggy is survived by her husband, Rob; her five daughters: Dorothy, 17, Elizabeth, 16, Meghan, 14, Katharine, 10, and Jennifer, 7; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Stephen and Sherry Owens, Jeffrey and Julie Owens, and Michael Owens; her grandmother, and 8 nieces and nephews. Peggy was raised in Birmingham, AL and Naperville, IL, graduating from Naperville Central High School in 1982. She attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where she graduated in 1986 with a BS degree in Medical Technology. Upon graduation she joined her family in California and worked as a medical technologist at the City of Hope. After a while, she decided to pursue other avenues of interest and moved to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico. She met Rob while working as med tech at the SED Labs in Albuquerque. They were married on September 17, 1994. Peggy was a vibrant and beautiful person who loved to sing and dance. Her love of children led her to teaching ballet to young students and then on to the classroom as a preschool teacher. She was very dedicated to her God and her family, enjoying all that came her way. Peggy will be greatly missed! A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services �?? Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE, Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UCLA Brain Cancer Research Fund to further their studies on glioblastomas.
