Margaret Elizabeth Palumbo passed away on January 6, 2025 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was predeceased by her parents, Sara Moffitt (Flanagan) and Francis Moffitt, and husband Thomas Palumbo.
In 1989, after living in New Jersey for over 40 years, Margaret and her husband relocated to New Mexico. After her husband’s untimely death Margaret made a new life for herself in Placitas and spent the remainder of her life surrounded by the community she loved.Margaret had many interests, which reflected her incredible energy. She took classes in creative writing and was involved in many groups and causes in the Placitas area including the Sandoval Historical Society, Placitas Library, and Church of San Ysidro. She was particularly passionate about civic affairs, and spent hours helping people register to vote.Margaret will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and energy. She loved being around people and was devoted to her family and friends. She was very giving with her time and enjoyed helping others. She will be greatly missed by her family members and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Alice Marie Palumbo of Toronto, Canada, and Andrea Marie Palumbo of Minneapolis, Minnesota, her brother Frank Moffitt of Resedas, California, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
Funeral mass: 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Church of San Ysidro, 5015 Corrales Rd, Corrales, NM 87048 with reception to follow. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
