Margaret Velasquez

Margaret Velasquez, our lovely and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed peacefully the morning of January 5, 2020. She was born on October 11, 1926 in Amalia, New Mexico, the youngest of 8 children, to Amelia Gallegos Sanchez and Abel Sanchez. She was a long time resident of Albuquerque.

Margaret was the best mom ever. She was an artist and loved to draw, paint, color, sew, crochet, do ceramics and all other kinds of crafts. Mom loved geraniums, they decorated her piano. She also loved baking cookies for the homeless, bingo, movies at Risen Savior, her work at the Hallmark, and her many friends and cousins, including her friends and double cousins, Anna and Chuck Beery. She especially loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, in 2000 and her daughter, Judy V. Robbins, in 1987.

She is survived by her children, Eddie Velasquez, Joyce (Curtis) Ferguson, and Gregg (Susie) Velasquez; her grandchildren, Allan, Tomas, Dedria, Kristi, Tim, Lindsey, Taylor, Marshall, Jordan, Gabriel, and Cole; seven great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; nieces, Grace (Paul) Martinez, Ester (Joe) Jimenez, Kathy Maes, and Liz Hernandez;  nephew, Joe (Seffie) Maes; four wonderful Velasquez brothers-in-law, Damian (Joann), Dan (Grace), Anselmo and Delfino; and friend, and telephone pal, Pauline Velasquez.

Rosary will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020, 6:00 pm, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE.   

Mass will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, 10:00 am, at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque.  Graveside Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020, 11:15 am, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St.
