Margie Ann Hays

HAYS - Margie Ann Hays, age 82, departed this life on her birthday, Jan. 15, 2011. She was born 1/15/1929 in Independence KS to Charlie & Emily Barker. Margie was one of eight children, 7 sisters and 1 brother. After moving to Durango CO as a young girl she met and married Don Hays. During their 23 years of marriage, 4 children were born. In 1957 the family moved to Albuquerque. Later in life, she worked as a bookkeeper and eventually purchased ABQ travel agency. She was passionate about traveling the world, photographing its many wonders and beauty. Her whole life revolved around her family whom she loved with all her heart. She made every effort each year to attend the annual Barker reunions, during which she left a treasured legacy by recording the family’s growth and changes with her photography. Her many loves of life included babies, bowling, and dancing. Margie is survived by her four children: Karen Blush, Robert Hays (Lucy), David Hays (Chris), Jana De Luca (Don); Ten grandchildren: Steve Blush (Gina), Laura Blush, Brian Blush (Liz), Kyle Stambler (Katy), Evan Stambler, Sara Hanigan (John), Ryan Hays, Christopher De Luca, Amanda De Luca, Dayna De Luca; 10 beloved great-grandchildren; brother Charlie Barker, sisters Lucille Hoover and Dorothy Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by 4 sisters: Vera Epperson, Gerry Ford, Maxine Offutt and Pauline Sexton. She will be dearly missed by all of us. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011, 1:00PM at Daniels Family, Wyoming Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Presbyterian Hospice, P.O.
