Marguerite Elizabeth Harvey McPhaul

McPhaul, Marguerite Elizabeth Harvey Age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home in Socorro, NM surrounded by her loving family. Marguerite was born in Williams, AZ on July 23, 1921 and was the second child of eight children born to James E. and Zelma Simpson Harvey. Marguerite's family were pioneers in the early 1900's in Catron County, NM. She was part of that pioneer spirit where nothing came easy and times were hard. However, how life was approached had everything to do with survival. This survival spirit and inherited genes were the basis of her long years of life. She attended schools in Divide, Datil, Magdalena and graduated from high school in Socorro, NM in 1938. After her high school graduation she worked in the Catron County Court House in Reserve, NM where she met and after World War II married Ellis McPhaul. Ellis and Marguerite were married on December 20, 1944 in Miami, AZ and made their home in Pie Town, NM where they were cattle ranchers. Marguerite was a loving person and dedicated to her family and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; her parents; sisters, Nancy F. Harvey and Pauline (Peggy) M. Brannin; and brothers, James (Butch) E. Harvey Jr. and Paul E. Harvey. Marguerite is survived by her two sons, Jerry McPhaul and wife, Nelda of Pie Town, NM and James (Jimmy) McPhaul and wife, Betty of Socorro, NM; five grandchildren- Nacona Cline and husband, Will of Bernalillo, NM; Adrian McPhaul and wife, Timber of Slowell, UT; Tawana Lilly and husband, Chris of Pie Town, NM; Carolie Rozell and husband Kory of Blanchard, OK; Merelie Knisley and husband, Shane of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven great grandchildren-Nalynn, Whitley and Ike Cline, Denim, Blazen, Darlin, Holden and Dallas McPhaul,Tessa Lilly, and Matthew and Micah Knisley; sisters, Mildred Y. Cathey of Farmington, NM; brothers, Earl S. Harvey of Albuquerque, NM and Gary L. Harvey of Milan, NM; and many numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 309 Garfield St., Socorro, NM. A celebration of Marguerite's life will be Monday, September 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Daniels Family Funeral Services-Socorro Chapel followed by her interment next to her husband in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Will Cline, Chris Lilly, Adrian McPhaul, Dallas McPhaul, Kory Rozell and Shane Knisley. Following the interment a buffet lunch will be held at the Bodega Burger, 606 N. California St., Socorro. Marguerite's friends are welcome to join her family in an afternoon of shared memories and renewed friendships.
