Griego, Maria Fidelia Baca

Maria Fidelia Baca Griego (Frieda), 97, peacefully left this world to be in the arms of her Savior, on February 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1987, and ten siblings. She is survived by her children: Paulette Russell (Duane), Gino (Debbie), Philip (Karen), Karen Adam (Mark), foster son, Pete Pascual (Virginia); grandchildren: Brian Griego, Michelle Helton, Jason Russell, Karina Adam; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua, Madeline, and Cooper. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was a genuinely loving person and will be dearly missed by each of the lives she touched.

Fidelia was born in Marquez, NM on November 5, 1920; graduated from Grants High School, and moved to Albuquerque after marrying Paul. While raising a family she worked at Albuquerque Public Schools in the food service area. She was a devout Catholic and was excited to visit the Vatican and Holy Land. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at Queen of Heaven Church, where she also sang in the choir for many years. Fidelia liked going to Sandia Casino with her Diamond Card where she played the slots, usually winning, and even won a car at bingo several years ago.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to her special friend, Evelyn Wersonick, who kindly spent tireless hours taking her to church, meetings, lunches with friends, anywhere she needed to go, for you see, Fidelia never drove a day in her life.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018 followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM.
