Maria A Gutierrez

Gutierrez, Maria A. 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2013 surrounded by her loving famiy at her home in Datil, NM. She was born in Pie Town, NM on November 11, 1924 to Antonino and Esther (Chavez) Armijo. Maria lived all of her life and raised her ten children in Catron County. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and raising her chickens. She love to garden. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ambrocio Gutierrez in 1995; her sons, Mauricio and Jose Gutierrez; her bothers, Antonino, Leo and Pete Armijo; her sister, Ruth Aragon; her grandson, Manuelito Gutierrez; and brother-in-law, Daniel Jaramillo. Maria is survived by her devoted children, Victor Gutierrez and wife, Jenny; Manuel Gutierrez and wife, Barbara; George Gutierrez and wife, Lillian; Stella Gutierrez; Herman Gutierrez and wife, Esther; Damacio Gutierrez; Tina Tafoya and husband, Leo; Marcial Gutierrez; and Denise Gutierrez; her brothers, Laddis Armijo and wife, Minnie and Gilbert Armijo and wife, Sharon; her sisters, Vestina Jaramillo, Nellie Aragon and husband, Leandro, and Frances Chavez and husband, Juan; daughter-in-law, Lupe Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Nellie Carrejo; twenty-six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. A Holy Rosary will be recited on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:30 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Datil, NM followed by the Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Father Pat Wedeking as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the Datil cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Gutierrez, Manuel Gutierrez, George Gutierrez, Herman Gutierrez, Damacio Gutierrez and Marcial Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers are Adela Gutierrez and all of Maria's many friends. The family would like to thank all of her many friends who came to see her and a special thanks to Adela Gutierrez, Jamie McKinnley, and Anne Begay for the care shown to Maria.
