Maria "Viola" Villa

Maria "Viola" Villa, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020. Maria was born on August 8, 1936 in Santa Fe, NM.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Villa; parents Jose Luis and Ana Maria Larribas; siblings Jose Larribas, Felicitas Valdez, Clorinda Underwood, Clotilde Larribas, Gilbert Larribas, and Jose Luis Larribas.

Maria is survived by her children: son, Anthony Villa; and daughters, Mary Ann Montano, Loretta Garcia (Toby), and Angelina Sanchez; her brother Edward Larribas (Maida) and sister Carmen Gonzales (George); 9 grandchildren: Mike Villa, Joanne Villa, Stephen Montano (Amberlee), Kristel Montano-Moughan (Gavin), David Garcia, Jessica Marquez (Ray), Alex Sanchez, Adrienna Gordon (Seth) and Martina Sanchez; and 5 great-grandchildren: Markus and Mikah Villa, Adrian Marquez, Ayla Gordon, and Gavin Moughan Jr.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dolores Villa and brother-in-law, Frank Gonzales and many nieces and nephews. 

Maria was known for her dedication to her family, her faithfulness; her passion for cooking, baking, sewing; and traveling with her family. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing; playing board games, volleyball, badminton and kickball. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. 

She was such a special person to so many and she is and forever will be missed.

A special thanks to the staff at North Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center and Genesis Albuquerque Heights and Kindred Hospice for providing kindness, love, and support to Maria and our family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Dr. NW.  Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Pall Bearers: Mike Villa, Stephen Montano, David Garcia, Alex Sanchez, Markus and Mikah Villa.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Adrian Marquez, Ayla Gordon and Gavin Moughan, Jr.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Maria's name.
