Maria R. Weston

Weston, Maria R. Maria del Rosario Weston, 88, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died peacefully on February 17, 2012. She was born on July 23, 1923 in Guadalajara, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Camarena and Maria del Rosario Lima. She was the middle child of 5 siblings. On April 19, 1949, she married Robert Bruce Weston, who preceded her in death on June 22, 2005. Maria was working as an office receptionist and swimming with an Olympic caliber team when she met Bruce in Mexico City following World War II. Bruce fell instantly in love with the Mexican culture and with the lovely Maria. Following a formally beautiful wedding, the couple stayed in Mexico City for three years. They moved to San Francisco and San Mateo where Maria learned to speak excellent English and worked before they settled in San Diego for eighteen years. Bruce worked for the Port of San Diego and in other international commerce. In the seventies, the couple moved to Mexico City for seven years, with son Dan Weston. Maria and Bruce wrote articles for the American Port Association and traveled in Latin America. In the late seventies, they moved to Los Angeles. Maria continued to work for the American Port Association and sold imported ceramic flowers. In the early 1990��?�s Bruce and Maria moved to Albuquerque to be near family. Maria was proud of her family, her heritage, her work and her personal fortitude. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shann Cathro Weston and Steve Porten of Friday Harbor, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Edwin Weston and Julie Weston of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Mariya Porten of Lake Tahoe, CA, Elena Porten of Seattle, Robin and Jason Weston of Albuquerque. Maria��?�s ashes will be placed with her husband��?�s in Friday Harbor, WA. Maria 's care has been entrusted to:
