Maria De La Luz Zuniga

Maria De La Luz “Luz” Zuniga died peacefully on May 15th, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 68 years old.

Maria is survived by her mother Glafira Zuniga of Canyon Country, California, son Sergio Arnoldo Nunez-Zuniga of Augusta, Georgia, daughter Alejandra Emms of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, sister Elva Rodriguez of Little Rock, CA, brother Rodolfo Zuniga of Reseda, CA, sister Rosa Zuniga of Gallup, NM, sister Gloria Mendez of Canyon Country, CA, brother Ruben Zuniga of San Fernando, CA, sister Ana Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM. Maria is also survived by grandson Xavier Charles Emms, and by her loving furry friends Terry, Frankie and Truffles. Maria is preceded in death by her father Ernesto Zuniga and by her nephew Juan Carlos Rodriguez.

Maria was born on Friday, January 1st, 1954, in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico, to Glafira Juarez and Jose Ernesto Zuniga.  Maria enjoyed reading her Bible, word searches and listening to music.

Services will take place on Thursday, May 19th, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 87124. Rosary will begin at 10:00AM, Mass will follow at 10:30AM. Directly following Mass, Burial will take place at Vista Verde Memorial Park, located at 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM, 87124, beginning at 11:30AM.
