Mariano J. Lucero

Age 90, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on February 8, 1927, to Cayetano and Onafre Basquez Lucero. An Albuquerque, NM resident since 1985.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pita of 70 years and parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mariano received his education in Las Vegas NM where he met and married Pita Detevis on September 20, 1948 and they moved to Los Alamos NM where Mariano was employed for 33 years at the Los Alamos National Labs. Retired in 1982 as a Quality Control Assurance Coordinator.

Mariano is survived by his four sons; Gene (Bertha) of Albuquerque, NM, Gerald (Monica) of Santa Fe NM, Donald of Albuquerque, NM and Buddy Jr. (Sue) of WI. Also grandchildren; Adele, Joey, Delaine, Matthew, Rosanna, Marc and Nicole. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Pop enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all he enjoyed meeting and having a good laugh with everyone. He will be greatly missed.   

Memorial services will be held for both Mariano and his wife Pita. Rosary will be held at 9:30 am followed by a Mass at 10:00 am on February 17, 2018 at Risen Savior Catholic Church at 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
