Marie Chavez

Funeral services for Marie Chapo Chavez, 80, will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Hosanna Pentecostal, Rock of Ages. The Rev. Harry Lee will officiate. Burial will be in family land. Visitation will be at the end of services. Chavez died Dec. 22, 2010, in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Borrego Pass, into the Towering House People Clan for the Hairy People Clan. Chavez was a homemaker, rug weaver, sheep herder and worked with Vista volunteer for 6 years. Survivors include her sons, Willy Charley of Canyoncito, Robert Chavez, Henry Chavez, both of Little Water; daughters, Sherl Henio, Darlene Mendoza, both of Little Water; brother, Dick Chapo of Canyoncito; sister, Rena Charley of Prewitt; 27 great-grandchildren. Chavez was preceded in death by her son, Glen Chavez; daughters, Rita Padilla, Irene Littleman, Anne Delgarito; one grandson. Pallbearers will be Augustine Ramirez, Johnathan Gonzales, Gonavan Chavez, Jaydren Chavez, Jeremy Chavez, Henry Chavez.
