Marie Jeanette (Geibel) Chavez ended her journey of caring, compassion and unconditional devotion to the Lord, her family and friends on the morning of Jan. 29th. Jeanette passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family from complications of cancer. Jeanette was born in Vaughn, N.M. on March 3, 1949 to John and Ramona Geibel. She was predeceased by her mother, Ramona Ruiz, her grandmother that raised her, Frances Sandoval. She is survived by Pat, her husband of 50 years, her children, John Patrick (Angie) and Tammy Lynn (John) Day. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Seth, Meghan, Abram and Levi Chavez and Jonathan and Matthew Day, her father, John Geibel, sisters, Antoinette (Carlos) Galindre, Kathy Geibel and Charlotte Vigil and brother-in-law Jesse (Mary Lou) Chavez. Jeanette and Pat met at a dance in Encino, N.M. in the spring of 1964 and were married two years later. Thus began a lifelong love affair between Pat, the career Air Force Master Sergeant and the consummate stay-at-home mom and devoted wife and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and blue-ribbon winning quilter, but her greatest joy was her role of loving and devoted grandmother. Together over the years Jeanette and Pat traveled and lived in numerous locations where Pat was stationed. They settled in Albuquerque after Pat’s retirement in 1985.
