MARIE GILLAND

Marie Gilland, age 72, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on July 18, 2015 with family members by her side. Marie was born in December 1942 to Jose Lugardo Archuleta and Rose (Jaquez) Archuleta. She was the second of eight children. Her parents, eldest sister, Geraldine Chavez, and youngest sister, Sally Novotny preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Archuleta of Aztec, NM; sister, Lorraine Archuleta of Pueblo, CO; brother, Paul Archuleta and wife, Susan of Columbus, TX; brother, Raymundo Archuleta of Mendocino, CA; and brother, Joseph Archuleta of Farmington, NM. Marie grew up in Aztec, NM, graduated from Aztec high school in 1960, and attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. She enjoyed a 30-year career in advertising as a media buyer for The Competitive Edge with Lee Galles. She also worked in advertising at McCann SAS in Troy, MI. Marie loved to cook and often catered amazing holiday dinners for family and friends. As a second career, she went through the Culinary Arts Program at CNM and worked at Prairie Star and for other chefs here in Albuquerque. She was always on the move, and had boundless energy which carried her into her last career as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Legacy. She enjoyed her career and the people she worked with very much and she worked diligently to help her clients fulfill their dreams of owning a home. Marie married Jon Gilland (Albuquerque, NM) in 1966 and was married to him for 37 years. She had one daughter, Tina Gilland of Albuquerque, NM, who was most fortunate to have had such a sincerely loving mother and best friend. Marie had a beautiful laugh, an amazing smile, and a tremendous sense of humor. She loved to joke around and was always quick to respond with a joke. She loved playing softball, watching football, and recently drag racing shows on TV thanks to her brother, Paul. Marie was a parishioner at Our Lady of Annunciation for 35 years. Marie was passionate about her faith in God, and she loved life and her family immensely. Our memories of her are miracles we will always cherish. A visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2015 6:00 p.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services.  Mass will be held Thursday July 30, 2015 at 8:30 am, at Our Lady of Annunciation Church. Interment will follow the mass. The pallbearers are Jon Gilland, Paul Archuletta, Selmo Jaramillo, Thomas Archuleta, Raymond Archuleta, and Joseph Archuleta.
