Marie A. “Nettie” Galindre

 

Marie A. Galindre, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, was peacefully welcomed home, into the arms of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at the age of 74, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Marie was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado, the first child of John Geibel and Ramona Geibel Ruiz. She had 3 younger sisters, Kathy, Jeanette and Charlotte. She attended Rio Grande High School, class of 1964 and went on to TVI, where she graduated as an LPN in 1966. She was studying to become a nun, when she met the love of her life, Carlos M. Galindre. They married in 1968 and had 2 children, Stephanie, in 1970 and Carlos Anthony “Anth”, in 1975.

After graduating from TVI, Marie worked for Presbyterian Hospital as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 42 years before retiring. Many people shared stories of how she had to stand on a box, in the delivery room, as she was only 4’2”.

Marie’s life revolved around her children and their extracurricular activities, Campfire girls, cheerleading, baton, baseball and soccer. Marie was also an avid gardener, always planting something and changing her flower beds every year. She also loved quilting, she made quilts for many special people in her life. Sewing, crafting and decorating her house with each upcoming holiday in mind. She loved to host parties and do all the cooking, she made a mean pot of Posole, which everyone raved about. She was a breast cancer survivor, for over 15 years, but the chemo took a toll on her. She developed cirrhosis of the liver from her chemo treatments.

She was a dedicated servant of Risen Savior Catholic Church where she and Carlos participated for many years in the Marriage Enrichment Program. She was also a Eucharistic Minister, delivering the Eucharist to homebound parishioners.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, John Geibel and Ramona Geibel Ruiz, her step father, Art Ruiz and her sister, Jeanette Chavez.

Marie was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marie is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Carlos M. Galindre; her daughter, Stephanie Galindre-Flores and wife, Pat, her son, Carlos Anthony “Anth” Galindre. Her grandson, Eric Flores. Her sisters, Kathy Geibel and Charlotte Vigil, her step daughters, Debbie and Rita Galindre and various special nieces, nephews, god children, many friends and her cat, Abby.

Services are on Thursday, March 11th at Risen Savior Catholic Church 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE.

Rosary is at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Mass at 9:00 a.m. Burial is at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetary 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE, immediately following Mass.

Pallbearers are: Eric Flores, Michael Steven Quintana, Steven Bottijliso, Johnny Ray Salazar Jr., Grant Serna and Martin Tapia. Honorary Pallbearers are: Audianna Pacheco, Blessing Pacheco and Tir’za Chacon.                                                   

Marie’s favorite quote was; “Don’t be afraid of tomorrow, God is already there”.

She was a beautiful soul and will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
