Ms. Marie Stringfellow daughter of the late James Vorhis, Sr. and Willa Mae Vorhis was born on March 22, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Marie received her formal education in the Indianapolis Public School System.
Marie was united in Holy Matrimony to Maurice Anderson and to this union one daughter Charlotte Louise Anderson was born.
Marie was a Practical Nurse and worked in several hospitals, and later in life she did Private Duty Nursing.
In 1956 Marie moved to Cleveland, Ohio, while living in Cleveland Marie became a member of Greater Abyssinia Church and was Baptized and Spirit filled. Marie loved to sing and was an active member of the Cleveland Gospel Choir.
Marie was united in marriage to Grady Stringfellow, who preceded her in death.
Marie returned to Indianapolis and helped her mother care for her father who was ill.
When Marie’s health decline in 2009 her daughter moved her to Albuquerque. Marie was involved with GHC Ambassadors and the Mother’s Board.
Marie departed this life on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 91 years old.
Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be sadly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter Charlotte (Bishop Michael) Shelby, two grandsons, Damon (Angela) Shelby, Darin (Simone) Shelby, one granddaughter, Dalisa (Eric) Claude, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Davis, one aunt, Natalie Hodges and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
