With deepest sorrow, our family announces the passing of our beautiful, brave, vibrant, and passionate daughter, sister, aunt, and friend Marilyn Claire Wright.

Marilyn, age 41, resident of Poulsbo, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2023, our family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Marilyn was born on December 25, 1981, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Her life was filled with love and passion for adventure with her friends, as an avid skier, and mountaineer. She was also an adventurous traveler, during her short life she had traveled to South Korea, Japan, Iceland, Alaska, Canada, Caribbean, Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, Guam, and the Philippines.

Marilyn was a graduate from the University of Fairbanks, Alaska, and she achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Journalism 2001 – 2007, and spoke French and Korean. She excelled in many technical positions in her career, most importantly her most recent 7 years as a Licensing and Compliance specialist with Altaris Cloud, Microsoft.

Marilyn’s dedication and love of the outdoors had her sharing her passion and enthusiasm with others, she was a big supporter of Swim Across America, Steward for The Mountaineers, SheJumps Fundraiser, and Advisor School Mountaineering. She also shared her community life by alpine climbing, hiking, kayaking, boating, knitting, playing piano and tending her home strawberry garden. Marilyn was gifted vocally and in theater, achieving 1st Place Talent Winner in the 1989 Miss Illinois Princess Pageant.

Marilyn is survived and missed by her loving parents Nam Ye McGill, Robin D. McGill (Stepfather) from Rio Rancho, NM; William C. Wright (father) and Annabel Wright from Barboursville, VA. Forever cherished and remembered by her siblings and their families: Eddy & Sharon Wright from Rio Rancho, NM; Rich & Katrina Wright from Peyton, CO; Kimberly & Don Hawkins from St. Louis, MO. Her memory also lives on with her nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles: Lane & Lene Wright, Josiah Hawkins, & Cindy Silvers from Pawleys Island, SC; Jim & Carolyn Wright from Nashville, IN and Andy & Cindy Wright from Dayton, OH.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sandia Memory Gardens.
