Age 87, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at her home in Socorro, NM with her family at her side. She was born in San Marcial, NM on July 10, 1930, to Luis and Luz Alderete Diaz.

She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her faith was her strength to patiently accept her illness. She was a devout catholic and a member of the Spanish Choir at San Miguel and a member of the Legion of Mary. Music, dancing and cooking for her family always brought her joy. She had a peaceful death surrounded by her loving family who will miss her immensely. She is preceded in death by her husband, Meliton "Tony" Gallegos; her parents, Luis and Luz Diaz; her sons, Tony Gallegos Jr., Robert L. Gallegos and Gilbert J. Gallegos; brothers, Samuel, Fidel, and Joe Luis Diaz; sisters, Mary Trujillo, Amalia Chavez, Louisa Barreras, and Sally Fernandez; grandchildren, Natalie Moreno and Darrell Gallegos; and great grandson, Noah Moreno. Marina is survived by her children, Carmen Gallegos, Raymond Gallegos, Berlinda Pino and husband, Manuel, Erma Tafoya and husband, Arthur, and Sammy Gallegos and wife, Alycia; sister, Prescilla Torres and husband, Max; 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Rosary to be recited on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 10:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church. Celebrant Rev. John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. Pallbearers will be Sam Gallegos, Sammy Padilla Jr., Manuel Pino Jr., Gilbert Armijo Jr., Milton Gallegos III, Manuel Pino Sr., and Arthur Tafoya. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Padilla, Jonathan Pino, Loren Tafoya, Robert Gallegos, Jeremy Gallegos and Andre Tafoya.
