Marjorie Nan Mellors Hemrich (age 93) passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Marge was born December 16, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to her parents Tom Mellors and Nancy Blackburn Mellors. Marge met her future husband William Hemrich when they were both high school juniors at Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois. They were married January 3, 1945 in La Grange.
Marge was active her whole life in Girl Scouting, beginning in grade school in 1933 as a Brownie Scout and later as a troop leader and council officer in Du Page County, Illinois and also in Rio Rancho, NM. During her long career in scouting she received many awards and honors for her contributions to Girl Scouts.
In 1990 Marge moved from the Chicago area to Rio Rancho where she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for Post 118. She served as Auxiliary President for 7 years.
She loved knitting and supplied her extended family with sweaters, afghans and Christmas stockings over the years. Later, she applied her needlework skills to producing beautiful cross-stitch pictures.
Marge is survived by her husband, William; daughter Susan Hemrich of Aloha, Oregon; daughter Patricia Hemrich and son-in-law Peter Hoogenboom of Bellingham, Washington. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Henika.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
