Marjorie (Peggy) Herrington, nee James, was born March 2, 1924 in Upton, Kentucky, the oldest of four children of Lewis E and Lena V James. Peggy died peacefully of cancer on July 15 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Willard E Herrington, her brother Roger H. James, her sister, Carolyn J. Bailey, and her parents. Her bright smile, quick mind, and eagerness to discuss a wide range of topics will be missed.
Peggy enjoyed good food and friends at Las Colinas Village, where she lived for many years. She love the Dallas Cowboys, crossword puzzles, math, hot Mexican food, fried oysters, The Great State of Texas, Albuquerque, computer games, big screen TV, her several dogs and baking. She baked great cream puffs and fancy birthday cakes. In Texas she was a pink lady hospital volunteer. At Albuquerque's Manzano Mesa Community Center she was known as "The Pie Lady" for her vigorous fund raising by selling other's baked pies. Peggy was ordained as a deacon at La Mesa Presbyterian Church. Burial of her cremains will be private in Santa Fe National Cemetery. At her request, there will be no memorial service.
