Mark Joseph Jones, 79, of Farmington, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Farmington. He was born April 1, 1931 in Denver, Colorado.
Mark Joseph Jones Served in the army during the Korean war and was honorably discharged in the early 50’s. He relocated to Newcastle, Wyoming and worked for Ma Bell and met and eventually Married Anona (Nona) McIntosh on 9/8/57. They adopted their first son M. Glenn in ’61 and in January ’65, they gave birth to their second child Donald Joseph. Mark took his family to Kauai, Hi in 1966 to work as a civilian on the Pacific Missile Range Facility. He then worked for the Atomic time Station WWV and later automated it. He also was the Chief Electrical Engineer for both Radio stations on the Island. On the side, he opened an Electronic Repair shop and also tuned pianos and organs. 1976 he moved his family back to Wyoming to work in Coal Mines as an Electrical Supervisor and also became EMT as a side job, until moving to NM in ’86, again working for Coal Mines, which he retired from. After retirement, he became a part time instructor at San Juan College instructing Mine safety and the National Electrical Code for journeyman electricians. Mark possessed every electrical and Safety certification available, including Nuclear Power plant and underground mining. He enjoyed troubleshooting and solving difficult electrical problems and teaching electricity and Safety. Mark possessed exceptional patience which enhanced his teaching and troubleshooting skills and was regarded by countless people as a true Electrical Guru. Trains were also his passion and while in NM, he was able to fulfill a lifetime dream of operating a real train.
Mark continued his excellence in teaching with teaching adult Sunday School at the New Life in Christ Ministries Church in Farmington. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his wife, Anona Fae Jones, and sons, Donald J. Jones and Mark Glenn Jones. Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home,
