Marlin Templeton

Marlin Streator (“Temp”) Templeton , 93, passed away on March 22, 2018.  He was born in Spearville, Kansas November 10, 1924 and moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico with his beloved wife Carmen in the early 1980s.  Both his wife and their daughter Becky predeceased him.  He is survived by several nephews and many precious friends.  Temp served in the Army during World War II, seeing action as a combat medic in France where he received wounds which ended his military career.  He then worked for several decades at Fort Riley, Kansas as a maintenance technician and carpenter.  He loved woodworking, building furniture for his own home and helping others with projects and repairs.  After he and Carmen moved to New Mexico he joined the Duke City Model Yacht Club and spent many happy hours sailing his remote-controlled boats at Tingley Beach.  Temp was also a member of the Rio Rancho Veterans Coffee Group and deeply appreciated the comradery of his fellow veterans at their regular Friday gathering. We wish to express special gratitude for the care he received from the doctors and nurses at the Veterans Administration Hospital, the support team from Kindred Hospice, and the staff at Ravenna Assisted Living facility – all of whom made his final time easier and more comfortable. His ashes will be buried in Ottawa, Kansas with his wife and their daughter. A memorial celebration will be held Thursday afternoon, April 5th at 4:00pm at Vic’s Daily Café, 3600 Osuna Road NE in Albuquerque.
