Martha Jean Elledge, 73, of Farmington, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday July 15th. Jean was born in Pampa, TX to Merkel and Odessa Phillips and was the oldest of three children. Jean grew up in West Texas and graduated from Borger High School in 1956. She went on to attend college at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX where she graduated with a business degree. After college, she married her childhood sweet-heart, Harold Wayne Elledge on August 26th, 1960. She became a respected teacher at Farmington High School first in 1960-1963. After this time she and Harold moved several times for his job before finally ending up back in Farmington. She then returned to Farmington High School and taught shorthand, typing, business, and computer classes, touching the lives of many students. She retired from teaching in 1995. Jean was a very strong woman in her faith in Jesus Christ. Though many trials came her way throughout her life Jean always leaned on Him and this example made an impact on every family member and friend who knew her. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Merkel and Odessa Phillips, and her brother Darrell Ray Phillips. She is survived by her husband, Harold Elledge, her son Kyle Elledge and his wife Lynette Elledge, her daughter Kim Bell and her husband Tye Bell. Her sister and best friend, Melba Acheson and her husband Densel Acheson, sister-in-law Dixie Phillips, nieces Marrisa Acheson and Melissa Beanland, nephews Shan Phillips, and Cade Phillips, and the joys of her life, her grand-children Brady, TJ, and Emily Jean.
