Martha C. Meister, age 85, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born May 17, 1931, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Michael and Mary (Svana) Belica. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, Johnny and her husband, Peter Charles (Chuck) Meister. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia; her son, Scott and wife, Michelle of Rio Rancho; and her sister, Matilda (Til) Ohs of Johnstown, PA. Martha grew up in Johnstown, PA. She left Johnstown to become a Stewardess for Lake Central Airlines. That’s where she met the love of her life, Chuck Meister, who happened to be a pilot with the same airline. On their first date, he told her that he was going to marry her. She just laughed at him and a few months later they were married. He kept her laughing for their 52 years of marriage and beyond. She never lost her love of flying, travel and laughter. Later in life, she enjoyed working at the College of Santa Fe where she had a knack for learning every student’s name. She also had a love of food, margaritas, beer and the movies. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jacqueline and Elliott Guinn, Martha and Chris Carpenter, her Church of the Incarnation Koffee Klatch buddies and her friends at the Range Cafe in Bernalillo, who showered her with love and affection.
