Martha C Proudfoot

PROUDFOOT, MARTHA C. Age 89, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Mrs. Proudfoot was born on August 8, 1922 to William W. and Madge (Fornash) Connolly of Raymondville, Missouri. A resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico since 1996, she will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing, the outdoors, and traveling. She is to be commended for her devotion as a foster parent to 21 children over a span of 16 years for the state of Alaska. Mrs. Proudfoot, also served in the US Army from 1943 until 1945 during World War II. During her service to the US Army she served in the 9301 Technical Service Unit as a Technician Fifth Grade. Mrs. Proudfoot was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lewis Proudfoot, in 2010. She is survived by her children, Susan Anderson and her husband, Dwane, of Anchorage, Alaska, Michelle Birmingham and her husband, James, of Greenfield, Missouri, and Shawn Proudfoot of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Connolly and Ted Connolly; and sister, Jenny Ruth Schmidt. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:30 PM at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
