Martin was preceded in death by his father Pete Martinez. Martin is survived by his Mother Nora Miera, Sons Martin (children Andres and David), Mark (Adriana) (children Alyssa, Valeria, Marco and Miguel), Marcus and Manuel. Brother Chris and sisters Julia and Daniella, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and friends.
Martin grew up in Albuquerque, NM in the Barelas neighborhood. He attended Albuquerque High school and graduated in 1977. Marty proudly served in the United States Army for 11 years. He loved servicing his country. Marty went on to become one of Albuquerque’s finest in 1982 where he proudly served in the Albuquerque police department for 20 years! He then went on to serve the community at the Albuquerque Public schools. He served at Valley High School for over 10 years. He was there while his son’s Marcus and Manuel attended high school. He went on to serve a total of 16 years with the Albuquerque Public Schools police department.
During Marty’s life he volunteered tirelessly at St Therese school coaching his son’s basketball teams, flag football and track while they played for the school. He also coached his son Mark’s YAFL football team. He worked tirelessly as a basketball referee and enjoyed every minute of it!
Marty loved his family dearly always sacrificing himself so his family could have a better life.
Mary Martinez (Sisneros) is preceded in death by brother Mark and Nephew Andon Lee Barraras, survived by Father Vidal and Edwina Sisneros, loving brother Manuel and loving sister Malorie (Mike), as well as niece Danika, many cousins, Aunts, Uncles, friends and the Zumba Zisters!
Mary grew up in Albuquerque, NM in the North Valley. She attended Valley High school where she was a Valley Vikette for many years and loved every minute of it! She loved to dance and went on to become a beloved Zumba instructor where she taught at the local senior centers, community centers and St Therese where she donated her time and energy.
She volunteered for the New Mexico Community Health care workers for many years helping her Aunt Betty Jo with the thrift store.
She spent many hours volunteering for St Therese church at the local fiesta and with the school while her sons were in attendance.
Mary was a frequent vendor at local craft shows where she loved being around people and having fun.
Mary worked tirelessly for her sons and did everything a loving mother could do for her kids. She loved them dearly as well as her husband affectionately called “My Dear”. Many of her friends just found out that his name was Marty as she called Marty, “my Dear” most of the time they were married.
Mary’s smile just lit up any room she entered. Her loving ways will be missed.
Marty and Mary met while Mary at worked at Godfathers pizza. The store had been robbed while Mary was working the night shift and Marty happened to meet Mary that fateful night. It was a lifelong dream of happiness, love and sorrow.
They will forever be missed.
The rosary will be held at St Therese Catholic Church in Albuquerque’s North Valley on 7 July at 6 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 8 July at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
