Mary Biddie Albin, a long-time resident of Rio Rancho, died on May 5, 2016. She was born in 1919 in Dunlap, Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel Henry and Alliena (Pryor) Smith. Mary received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from North Texas State University in 1962. She taught 1st grade at Acoma Elementary School in Albuquerque for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John E. Albin and three siblings. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Steve and Linda, Mike and Judy, and Dave and Kathy, four grandchildren Matt Albin, Christa Griffith, Mary Margaret Brotherton, David Albin, seven great grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews and her sister, Sammie.
She and her husband were charter members of Rio Rancho Baptist Church since 1981 and were deeply involved in all the workings of helping start a church. She taught in children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and AWANA’s and was active in senior adult ministries.
She loved to travel and visited all the states in America and several foreign countries. She loved to read, paint and talk about her grandkids, and former students.
Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd at Meadowlark Lane SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico with an interment service to follow later at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to Rio Rancho First Baptist Church Missions Fund (3906 19th Ave SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124).
