Mary Alire, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed peacefully with family members at her side on June 21 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and children – Dennis Alire, Joyce Palomino, Normandy “Pinky” Montano. She is survived by children – Glen Alire and Camila Alire – and numerous grandchildren, great-, and great-great grandchildren
She was born July 1, 1923 to Eloy and Bernadita Sisneros and raised in Monte Vista, Colorado. Mary worked as a teacher’s assistant and high school secretary in the Monte Vista school system; worked as a legal secretary and a sales associate. Mary was active in the Monte Vista VFW and American Legion Women’s Auxiliaries serving as president and secretary of both.
Mary’s love, wit, wisdom, and feistiness will be sorely missed by all. May she rest in peace.
A Mass for Mary will be held on July 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista followed by a graveside memorial service at the Monte-Vista Cemetery.
