Mary E. Althaus

Mary Elizabeth Althaus, 88, passed away on November 5, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on April 9, 1928, in Douglas, Arizona to Gilbert and Margaret Hale. On August 30, 1947, she married Harry F. Althaus in Douglas, AZ. She graduated from New Mexico A & M (now New Mexico State University) in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a homemaker living in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Sewing and quilting were lifelong passions.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Jr.; her parents; and her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her son, Bryan Althaus and wife Deb, Tommy & Angela of Albuquerque, NM; her daughter Roxanne Althaus of Lubbock, TX; and grandson Brandon Althaus of Midland, TX. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Vista Verde Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM.
