BACA-Mary V. Baca, 91, passed away peacefully January 23, 2012. She was born December 2, 1920, in Pena Blanca, NM to Pilar and Anita Baca. Mary is survived by her brother David (Virginia) Baca; children, Margaret (Joe) Sandoval, Chon Larry (Diana) Baca, Debbie (David) Dionisi; grandchildren, Michelle Sandoval, Casey Dow, Michael Sandoval, Melissa Merrick, Samuel Reyes, Savannah Skinner, and numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eleuterio Baca; brothers, Ricardo, Roman, Jose, Ignacio and Trevino; sisters, Melinda, Pepa, and Dora. Mary was raised in Pena Blanca where she was very active in the Catholic Church and remained a devoted Catholic her entire life. The family is honored that in her youth Mary was selected by Reverend Fr. Fray Angelico Chavez to model as the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Pena Blanca Church Stations of the Cross Frescos. During WWII she served on the home front. Following the war she worked at Ft. Wingate, Lovelace and in the Electronic Assembly Industry. She moved to Albuquerque and raised her three children. Mary enjoyed travel, painting, quilting, gardening but most of all spending time with her family, friends and pets. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Pena Blanca in honor of Mary Baca. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona Ave. SE, Albuquerque. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca with Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery.
