Mary Charley Begay

Mary Charley Begay, 78, of Farmington, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 in Farmington. She was born March 19, 1930 in Carson, New Mexico to Fred and Annie Charley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Begay, her parents, Annie and Fred Charley, daughter, Martha Begay, sisters Jessie Charley, Lola Yazzie and Ruth Harris and brother, Johnny Charley. She is survived by sons, Edward Begay, Thomas Begay, Eddie Begaye, Andrew Begay, Anson Begay, and Billy Begay, daughters Betty Begay and Thelma Begay. She also raised Calvin Willie, Irvin Willie, Jeanette Tsosie, Audrey Coe, Bernita Sandoval and Alberta Charley. Also surviving are brothers, Wilson Charley and Freddie Charley, sister, Helen Tsosie, grandchildren, Nadine Beyale, Dawn Smith, Brian Begay, Adam Martinez, Aaron M. Anthony, Rachael and Isaiah Tsosie, Jessica, Aaliyah, Arienna and Jolissa Coe and Shala Sandoval and great grandchildren Briyanna Biggs and Gabriel Smith. Mary was a self-employed rancher. She enjoyed weaving and homemaking as well as ranching. She was a member of the Huerfano Chapter, the Office of Navajo Educational Opportunities and St. Luke Episcopal Church. Mary will be truly missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her endless giving and candid spirit. Pallbearers will be Andrew Begay, Anson Begay, Lyndon Harris, Aaron M. Anthony Harrison Tsosie, Henry Tinhorn, Jason Tinhorn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward Begay, Billy Begay, Thelma Begay, Betty Begay, Eddie Begay and all family members.
