ROCK POINT, ARIZ. Mary Smiley Begay July 4, 1923 - June 4, 2011 Mary Smiley Begay, 87, of Rock Point, Ariz., passed from this life on Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Cortez, Colo. She was born August 15, 1923, in Rock Point. Her clans are Kintichinii and Ashiihi. The majority of her life she lived out in Rock Point. She also resided in Fort Defiance, Ariz., Shiprock and Kayenta. She has 12 children, 49 grandchildren, 35 great-grandkids and 6 great-great- grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Smiley and Baa'hazhoni; her husband , Randolph T. Begay Sr. and sons, Tommy Hoskie, Ricky T. Begay and Jonah S. Begay. She is surived by her son, Randolph T Begay Jr., daughters, Virginia Hatch, Lillian Young, Gloria Blackhorse, Patricia Begaye, Matilda Begay, Rosemary Begay, Victoria Whitehorse; and sister Emma Smiley.
