Mary Garcia passed away at age 78 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by husband Pat, her parents, Terecina and Efren Rodriguez Sr., brother, Efren Jr., sister in-law, Adela, and brother in-law, George.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Everett), Michael (Lucinda) and grandson, Adan, brothers Orlando, Willie (Bessie), Charlie (Fannie), sister Esther, sister in-law Mary Frances Reza (Henry) and Juanita (Chuck) and sister in-law Cora; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Mary worked for many years for the Albuquerque Public Schools and later, with the NMSU Extension Service. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Adan, whether it was taking him to school, or going on various outings. Mary volunteered at St.Therese of the Little Flower, helping serve breakfast to the elderly.
Thank you to our family and friends for their love and support at this very difficult time. Special thanks to Rose, Mary’s niece and goddaughter, for always being there for Mom and her help and support in mom’s final days; Armando Ortega for his comforting care at mom’s house and the hospital. Thanks to Aunt Fran and cousin Vernon for providing the music during the mass.
Also special thanks to the nurses on the 3rd floor at Presbyterian who cared for mom with great compassion and kindness. They are greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the NM Autism Society. Mary will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
A rosary will be held Monday, March 14, at 6:30 PM at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 15th at 9:00 AM, at St. Therese of the Little Flower Church, 3424 Fourth Street NW. A reception will follow the church services at the Moose Lodge #1517, 2121 Edith Blvd NE.
