Giblin, Mary Gordon Long-time resident of Albuquerque Mary Gordon Giblin (MG), born February 24, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada passed away peacefully in her sleep at a local nursing home on October 9, 2013 at the age of 84. She will long be remembered for her keen wit and ribald sense of humor. She did not suffer fools gladly, and her observations were right on 99% of the time. She made a few enemies - as those who bluntly speak their minds occasionally do - but she was staunchly loyal to and adored by her family and many friends. MG devoted herself to raising her three children and did so with unfailing energy, love, and a strong dose of common sense. She worked for many years at the American Lung Association and, more recently, as office administrator for the Disciplinary Board of the New Mexico Supreme Court. Long after her retirement in 1998, New Mexico attorneys and State Bar officials continued to inquire after her. She was a breath of fresh air in a milieu that sometimes can be overly formal and somewhat pious. She was very fond of animals, particularly her favorite dogs Luger, Mollie and Oso. A voracious reader, right up until the time of her death, she also enjoyed all televised sports especially hockey. A fine cook, she greatly enjoyed preparing feasts for family gatherings and holiday meals. Preceded in death by her loving parents Gordon (1955) and Winnie Cross (1968) of Flin Flon, Manitoba and husband Robert Pegue (1970) of Albuquerque, she is survived by children Denise Reed and Gordon Pegue, both of Albuquerque and Jon Pegue of Sun Lakes, Arizona; grandchildren Melanie Wood and husband Louis, Brandon Reed and wife Deborah, all of Albuquerque and Jessica Pegue of Gilbert, Arizona; great grandchildren Lucas and Patrick Wood and Jonah, Caleb and Jade Reed all of Albuquerque; nephew Roy Brand and wife Debbie of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and cousin Anne Burton of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by many loving friends including close friends Marcella Fitzgerald and Virginia Ferrara both of Albuquerque and many former co-workers. Cremation has taken place. In honoring her final wishes, no memorial services will be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name be made to the Animal Humane Society (615 Virginia Street SE, Albuq. NM 87108 255-5523).
