Mary Patricia Higgins

Mary Patricia Higgins, age 81, passed away on October 15, 2024 at Advantage Assisted Living following a fall at her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Mary was a retired nurse, active in the VFW Post 5890 Auxiliary, and a member of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Rio Rancho.

Mary was born in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Saint Brendan's Catholic High School in Brooklyn and Saint Mary of the Plains College in Kansas. Her nursing career spanned almost fifty years and included work as an RN for the Veterans Administration, as a Head Nurse, and as a teacher of future nurses in both Chicago and Rio Rancho. Mary lived in Rio Rancho for almost forty years. Her hobbies included hawking Mary Kay products, needlepoint, and quilting.

Survivors include her brother Richard and his wife Ann Marie and numerous nephews, nieces, and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret; father John; brother Eddie; sister Pat; nephew Larry, and grandniece Katelyn.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Rose Garden at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
