Gonzales, Mary Ann Age 92, left this world the morning of Tuesday, September 17, 2013 to be with family and friends gone before. We will miss her gentle spirit, warm demeanor and generous manner. Mary Ann Gonzales owned and operated the local Mary and Tito's Cafe for over 50 years, which had the distinction of winning the prestigious James Beard Award. Many will miss her, and all will remember her selfless contributions to the business community of Albuquerque. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Amelia Garcia; sisters, Rosina Krause, Frances Martinez, Fina Rivera, Tillie M. Gonzales. Loving mother, she is survived by her three daughters, Marsha Regina Gonzales, Antoinette Knight, Susan Lee Sweeney; brother, Mike T. Garcia; niece, Amelia Irene Williams; six grandsons, Eric Andres Knight, Jordan Henery Knight, Travis Marshal Knight, Paul D. Sweeney, Johnathan Andres Sweeney, Jhette Gonzales-Duran; two great-grandchildren, Xavier Benton Knight, Lilliana Elena Gonzales-Duran, whom she cherished and adored. Her six grandsons can give testament of her enduring strength, commitment, unconditional love and integrity. Mary Ann's family settled in Santa Fe in the 1800's. Their legacy remains as one of New Mexico's premier families. Non-assuming, loving, caring and independent are words that will be used to recall the life of Mary Ann Gonzales. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Monday, September 23, 2013, at San Felipe de Neri Parish, 2005 North Plaza Street NW, Albuquerque, NM.
