Marybelle Spears

Marybelle Spears, age 86, passed away on July 5, 2019.  She was born in Sugar City, Colorado to Weldon Spears and Marybelle Griffin.  She attended Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado.  She married Weldon Spears in March of 1951.  They divorced after 21 years of marriage and she never remarried.  She retired from Presbyterian Healthcare Services.  She was also employed at The Real Estate Center for 25 years, and was owner the last 6 years.  She was President of the Residents Committee at Skies Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque.  Marybelle was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque and read daily devotional books by Joel Osteen and Norman Vincent Peel.  She also enjoyed audio tapes by Joyce Meyers.  She received the Property Management Award in 2010.  Marybelle especially loved Arts and Crafts Projects and loved to play games-- Bingo, Dominos, Cards (Canasta and Shanghai), Adult Coloring Books and Word Search Puzzles.  She enjoyed spending weekends and holidays in Cabin 23 at Pine River Lodge by Vallecitos Lake in Durango, Colorado.  She loved the serenity of the lake with the beautiful surroundings and nature.  She also enjoyed going to the Bar D Chuckwagon dinner and show in Durango.

She is survived by her children, Susan Porter, Debbie Burrell-Roberts, and Christal Newton, all of Albuquerque, NM; Grandchildren, Kelly Burrell, Jimmy Porter, Heather Roberts, Katie Rodriguez, and Brandon Newton; Great Grandchildren, Tyler Burrell, Noah Rodriguez, Jacquelyn Porter, and Ryan Porter.

Marybelle lived the last six years of her life at Skies Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The staff and residents were greatly saddened by her passing and held a Celebration of life event for her on July 17, 2019.

Marybelle's wishes were to be cremated and leave this message to all her family and friends in her life.  "This is the day the Lord has made -- Let us rejoice and be glad in it!!
