Age 92, passed away August 28, 2012. She was born on March 8, 1920, in Fresno, California, to Ichino and Kenichi Kanai. Masako is survived by her daughter Grace Brown, grandson Aaron Brown and wife Nadja, grand-nephews Kelly Yamamoto and Scott Yamamoto and families, numerous relatives and family from Kauai, Hawaii, and a host of friends and loved ones. After an extended stay at Presbyterian Sanitarium, Masako��?�s husband, Matsukichi Kanai, preceded her in death on November 22, 1958. Masako was a woman before her time, simultaneously raising a child and working and going to school until she earned her R.N. and her BA in nursing. She worked to become Director of Nurses at the Indian Hospital in Albuquerque, and by retirement, she supervised nurses for BIA in the western states. She will be remembered for her high expectations of others and her desire to help others. Inurnment will take place Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Memorial Park, followed by a lunch hosted by the immediate family.
