Max C Montoya

Montoya, Max C 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was born in Monticello, NM on October 27, 1926 to Evanceliano and Tomasita (Chavez) Montoya. Max was a Lemitar resident for about 20 years. He worked for the State Highway Department for 12 years. He was a very happy person and always had a charming way about him. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Max owned many horses when he was younger and liked going to rodeos. He enjoyed music and loved to dance. Max was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old western movies and playing cards. More than anything, Max simply loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary (Archuleta) Montoya; his son, Roger Montoya; his daughter, Carolyn Petalcu; his son in law, Harold Lucero; and his grandson, Gilbert Orosco. Max is survived by his devoted children, Annabelle Lucero; George Montoya and wife, Lisa; Linda Orosco; Loretta Gomez and husband, Joe; Doreen Montoya; Margaret Ferrales and husband, Art; Mike Montoya and wife, Teresa; Eron Montoya and wife, Roseanne; Virginia Montoya; Eva Boothroyd and husband, Buzz; Belle Moya and husband, Larry; and Ernest Montoya and wife, Heidi. Max will also be greatly missed by his sisters, Melva Apodaca; and Christina Roberts; 38 loving grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many other loving family members and friends. A Visitation will take place at the Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM, 87801on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm followed by the Holy Rosary, which will be recited at 7:00pm. Interment will take place in the Lemitar Cemetery on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 10:00am.
