Lucero, Max R.
On September 2, 2014, in Rio Rancho, NM, Maximinio "Max" Lucero was called home to heaven. Max was born January 20, 1922 and was the son of Espiridion and Delfida Lucero.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet Lucero; daughter, Sandy Humphries; his sister; his brother.
Max is survived by his son, John Hamilton and wife Pam; son-in-law, Jerry Humphries; daughter, Trudie Stovall; grandchildren, Lisa Sullivan, Corey Hamilton, Craig Hamilton, Brian Humphries, Doug Stovall, Ben Stovall; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins and friends who will greatly miss him.
Max grew up in Cuba, NM and the family eventually moved to Albuquerque, NM where he graduated from Albuquerque High in 1941. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a MSG. He also served overseas during WWII and the Korean War, where he served in the 1st and 3rd SAD. Upon retirement from the military he received his Bachelor of Arts in Education and had a second fulfilling career as a social worker at the Los Lunas Hospital and training school. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, Trench Rats, and numerous other organizations.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, October 31, 2014 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment to follow at 2:15 pm, Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM.
